Welcome to Reception

Welcome to an exciting year in Reception!

The children have all settled well into Reception and they have embarked on an exciting learning journey. In Reception, we learn through play using our Continuous Provision both indoor and outdoor. We ensure that our areas fulful the Early Learning Goals and enable the children to 'Let your light shine.'

In our outdoor Sand Area we have a variety of activities that promote a love of story telling and mathematical language and knowledge. These activities are demonstrated through our Measuring Station, which include a variety of measuring jugs, cylinders and funnels. Story telling activities are promoted through using the Small World in our Sand Area.

Our Outdoor Provision also features areas that focus on physical development, such as, balance, coordination, catching and throwing.

Imaginative play is encouraged throughout all the areas in our Continuous Provision, including the stage, play house, the home corner, small world and construction.

In Reception we are learning about our country and the values that we uphold. We have been teaching the children about democracy, rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect. We ensure that these values are promoted in all areas of the children's learning and development.

We look forward to supporting the children througout their learning journey and watching them flourish during the year.
