Science Day!
Lesson: Science
Today we have participated in a Science Day. The day started with an interactive assembly led by Dr Nick Tomczyk. He was talking about his job as a Scientist. He told us about how it involves STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). We were all given a voting card (with A on one side and B on the other) and when we were asked questions we were all able to vote for the answer. Dr Nick asked us if a balloon would pop if a sharp stick was pushed into it – most of us thought it would! But then, with the help of Mrs Jennings he showed us a way of putting the stick through the balloon.
Later we were visited by another scientist – Mrs Thorgaard. She told us about her role as a Civil Engineer. She asked us questions about the water cycle and with some helpers she showed us how water can be treated so that it can be used again. Mrs Thorgaard set up an experiment to filter some very dirty water. It took a long time for the water to filter through but Miss Butler brought it back to the class to show us later in the day. Take a look at our exciting day.
