Today was History Day at St Vincent’s. The children and staff have had a great start to their day. The children have put so much effort into their costumes. We have been reading greek myths and creating story boards. We also decorated greek vases with wonderful patterns. Thank you to parents who have helped organise costumes. I know this will be a truly memorable day for all.

Today we celebrated History Day and in Reception we looked into the Victorian Era. We dressed up as Victorian people from all walks of life and enjoyed learning about how their lives differed to one another and also to our own life today. We looked at the British seaside holidays that were very popular in Victorian England and compared them to the holidays some people can take abroad in modern day life. The children enjoyed taking part in a Victorian Drill session in the playground; they much preferred their normal P.E. sessions rather than Victorian ones. What a fun day we had!

To celebrate the month of May we remembered Our Lady by having a simple prayer service. The children wrote their own prayers and shared them with the rest of Reception and their parents. We sang songs and laid flowers at the foot of her statue. It was a beautiful little service for all involved.
Manchester Airport Runway Visiting Park
Date: 24th May 2019 @ 4:46pm
To further investigate our topic of ‘Travel and Transport’ we went on a school trip to Manchester Airport Runway Visiting Park. We had a great time and experienced lots of new things. We learnt a lot about aeroplanes whilst in the Monarch DC10 aircraft including how they are made, what materials are used to make them and the people that are needed to run an aircraft from take-off to landing; there are a lot more people needed than we had anticipated! We enjoyed dressing up in these roles and looking at what tools and equipment they use to be able to their job. We were lucky enough to be shown one of Manchester Airport’s very own working fire engines based at one of the two fire stations there. We had a brilliant time in the sunshine with the excitement of aeroplanes taking off and landing all around us!!

What a wonderful end to our half term. The talent across Year Two was very impressive. We had everything from a magic show, mad scientist experiment to singing and dancing. The infant department were blown away with all the acts. Very well done to all that took part. It was so lovely to see the children let their light shine in different ways.
Date: 9th Apr 2019 @ 3:15pm
