Today was Safer Internet Day and the day started with the infant children listening to an assembly which was presented to them by the junior 'Digital Leaders'. This assembly was all about how to stay safe online and how it is incredibly important that we never share our personal information with others online.

In their classrooms the children enjoyed completing different activities linked to the theme of the day, which included making and designing their own Safer Internet Day alien badges and each child received their own wristband which will serve as a reminder of all the important messages taught today.

Stockley Farm visit

Date: 11th Jul 2018 @ 5:22pm

Today, Reception had a visit to Stockley Farm. The sun shone and the children had a fantastic time. After drink and a biscuit, we got to feed the baby goats and enjoyed a tractor ride into the woods, singing 'Old Mcdonald had a farm' all the way! In the woods we searched for foxes and rabbit holes and discussed what creatures had the woods for their habitat. We went into the animal handling barn and got to stroke guinea pigs and rabbits: they were very patient with us! After stroking a pony, we got to learn all about chickens and the difference between the cockerals and the hens. We also got to see lots of baby animals before finally getting on the coach, tired and weary, to come home. A great day was had by all.

Date: 21st May 2018 @ 5:22pm

On Friday 18th May 2018, all year groups at St Vincent's gathered together on the school field to celebrate the upcoming Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. We listened to some fantastic regal music played to us by some of the Junior children and we took part in singing 'God Save the Queen' altogether, it was quite a show! We then sat together and tucked into our packed lunches whilst dressed in our red, white and blue clothes. We felt very patriotic!

Police Visit

Date: 26th Apr 2018 @ 4:45pm

This afternoon, we had special visitors to Reception...the police arrived (not because we were in trouble!) with two huge horses and a police car. PC McNulty, and other officers, explained to the children about their uniforms and the equipment they carry with them at all times.   We were then allowed to sit in the police car and also stroke the horses. The children listened carefully as the officers explained about the horses, why and where they are used. The sun shone which just completed our fantastic afternoon!

A Police Investigation

Date: 9th Mar 2018 @ 4:18pm

Over night, there was an incident in the Reception classroom. The children turned into detectives to work out what had happened and who had left a mess in each class. The children found some clues in the shape of footprints and deduced that there had been pigs and a wolf involved...

Year 2 children also made their own digital footprints and took part in a class quiz.

Tatton Park Christmas Trip

Date: 30th Nov 2017 @ 4:54pm

Today, we went on our very first School Trip to Tatton Park. We were able to visit the mansion and explore the rooms that were decorated to fit the theme of 'The Twelve Days of Christmas'. The song was even played throughout the mansion whilst we hunted for the hidden reindeer in each room. With our eagle eyes, we found all of them. We also went to the Farm and saw lots of animals including pigs, rams, horses and we even got to meet some of Father Christmas' reindeer! Whilst at the Farm we also went into the cottage where we sat around the fire and listened to the story 'T'was the Night Before Christmas'. We were told that this story was the favourite of a little girl who used to live in the cottage during the war. Her presents were very different to the ones we wish for today! We rounded off our School Trip with a visit from a very special person - Father Christmas and because we had all been so good, we even received a little present from him. It was a fantastic day and even the weather was kind!

United Nations Day

Date: 25th Oct 2017 @ 8:09pm

Today we celebrated United Nations Day. In Reception we found out lots of information about France. During the day we took part in a variety of fun and exciting activities linked with this country. We made an Eiffel Tower hat and a French flag to wave. Later on, we had our very own french food tasting banquet, consisting of french bread, brie, pain au chocolat and brioche. It was delicious! We also took part in a parade with the nursery children to show what we had made. It was a 'French-tastic' day!

Stockley Farm Trip

Date: 19th Jul 2017 @ 10:48pm

On Monday, Reception visited Stockley Farm. The sun shone and the children had a fantastic time. After snacks and a drink, we learnt about horses, brushed a donkey then went on a tractor ride into the woods for a nature walk. We identified a variety of trees and searched for badger, fox and mole holes. The children found an old tree and attempted to measure its trunk by joining hands around it. Lunch and play was next, followed by feeding chickens, baby goats and a lamb. We saw huge pigs, new born calves and foals then were allowed to stroke a guinnea pig, rabbit and ferret. They were so soft! After that, we had just enough time to have another quick drink and play on a bouncy castle before climbing on the coach, exhausted, to return back to school. What a great day!!!!
