Safer Internet Day in the Junior Department

Date: 5th Feb 2019 @ 7:48pm

Today the children in our school supported Safer Internet Day. The day started with an assembly by Mrs Needham who taught the KS2 department about what it means to consent to something and how we should ask permission before doing something online.

After, the digital leaders acted out some drama scenes which showed some incorrect behaviours online. The children then made suggestions about what should have happened.

All the children received their own St Vincent’s orange wristband to remind them of the messages from the day!

Each child also made a pledge about how they are going to behave online. You can see these displayed on the classroom windows.

Other activities the children completed were: a safer internet survey, an online choices quiz, drawing the internet activity and data jargon buster.

The Year 5 & 6 children had a fantastic workshop this afternoon by Ian Richardson from Intqual Pro. He taught the children about how to behave online, how to keep a safe password and just how many devices are connected to the internet including pillows and toasters!!! The session was ended with an interactive quiz and prizes. Well done to the winners and thank you to Ian Richardson and Barry Searle from Intqual Pro.

The day ended with the Digital leaders all receiving a GOLD note to thank them for all their effort and hard work over the last few weeks in preparation for today!

We hope all the children have enjoyed the day and learned lots about consent and correct behaviours when online.

Good luck to all the children in completing their ‘What would you do?’ homework.

Online Safety Assembly from Google

Date: 12th Dec 2018 @ 8:25pm

Today the children in the junior department had a fantastic, interactive assembly by Google. They talked about their new scheme called ‘Be Internet Legends’. This teaches the children all about how to stay safe online through five key areas:

Sharp - Think before you share

Alert - Check it’s for real

Secure - Protect your stuff

Kind - Respect each other

Brave - When in doubt, discuss

The children were reminded about how to play the game ‘Interland’ where they can visit different worlds and learn how to stay safe online.

Well done to all the children, you all joined in really well!

Welcome to Mrs Jennings' Class

Date: 9th Nov 2018 @ 3:54pm

Welcome to Mrs Jennings' Class!

We have all settled in very well in the Junior Department and we are enjoying exploring our new surroundings! Our new classroom is a fun and exciting place to be with lots of colourful displays and interactive resources to support our learning.

During every lesson we are encouraged to challenge ourselves and become independent learners through the use of the 5 B's (brain, buddy, board, basket and boss), the self selecting task trays and our quality baskets. We enjoy relaxing in our reading garden where there is a great selection of books to choose from! As you can see from our photographs, we take pride in our work and enjoy displaying it for all to see. In our classroom we have a writing and RE display which are changed regularly reflecting the topics we are learning about. The maths working wall supports us with our work and provides us with helpful reminders if we are 'having a wobble'.

This term we have been lucky enough to engage in a number of sporting activities, including the Quick Sticks Hockey Festival, and receive weekly lacross sessions delivered by Timperly Lacross Club.

Collective worship is a very important part of our RE curriculum and each week one person is asked to plan and deliver a session to the rest of the class. This is a very special responsibility and we enjoy celebrating together in this way.

We hope you have enjoyed visiting our class page. It will be updated regularly with all the exciting things that we will be doing this year!  Please click here to see our latest news items

Year 2 Treasure Hunt

Date: 5th May 2017 @ 3:16pm

Ahoy me hearties! Shiver me timbers! Yo ho ho!

In Year 2 we have been imagining ourselves to be Pirates, sailing the Seven Seas. We have designed and made our own treasure maps and wrote a list of instructions. Who will find the treasure first?

Today all the Year 2 children went on a Pirate Treasure Hunt. We had to follow the picture clues of different settings we might find on a deserted island; from beautiful blue lagoons with cascading waterfalls to deep, dark jungles full of fearsome creatures to exploding, sizzling volcanoes. Each setting had a mystery letter which we put together to make the final clue. It was all a bit of a jumble and took a little time to decode. At last the secret was revealed! Can you spot the clue to the location of the treasure?
