Mrs Lindsay has done it! Many years have gone by where Mrs Lindsay has wanted to face all of the challenges of Robinwood. Today, Mrs Lindsay has completed this challenge.  As you can see from the pics, it was a mixture of fear, relief and joy as she flung herself and Miss Byefield down the Giant Swing. Well done Mrs Lindsay!!!

During Science Week we were visited by Dr Nick who came to carry out some experiments with Year 1. He showed us how to lift an ice cube with a piece of string. We thought it looked like magic!

In class we carried out a 'Skittles Experiment' we put Skittles sweets in a circle on a plate with water on and we waited to see what happened - it created a rainbow!

Ridge Team have enjoyed all our activities on Day 1. We have climbed the trapeze, canoeing, taken part in the Rocket Olympics and dashed up the Climbing Wall.

Day 2

This morning, we began our day rambling through caves. We had a number of challenges to complete and we even attempted a rescue mission!

After that we completed the Giant Swing, we have some great before photos and even better ones as the the rope was chopped.

Day 3

Our last day at Robin Wood began with the Zip Line. We followed this up with Archery and a Quest.

Robinwood: Crag

Date: 29th Mar 2017 @ 8:06pm

Crag Team members: Thomas, Liam, Oliver, Ethan, Oskar, Eva J, Eva H, Georgia, Anna, Ella, Niamh, Miss Hobday

Day 1: The Crag group have had a fantastic first day at Robinwood! So far, we've embraced our inner sailors and have been canoeing, leapt off a trapeze, solved puzzles in the Knight's Quest and have explored  caves!

Day 2: Today, the Crag group have faced the Giant Swing, battled mischievous squirrels in the Night Line, zipwired through the trees, unleashed our inner Robin Wood in archery, competed in the Rocket Olympics and demonstrated super teamwork during the Crate Challenge, while managing to take selfies from the top of the crates!

Day 3: After 2 incredible days already at Robinwood, our last day was not a let down! After another fantastic archery sessions (which we now consider ourselves to be experts in), we split into teams to complete a challenge course in order to become Knights and then transformed into Spider(wo)men and tackled the climbing wall, some blindfolded or handcuffed! We Crag's don't shy away from a challenge!

A huge thank you to our team leader, Rory, who made our experience at Robinwood so amazing!

Robinwood: Wood Group

Date: 29th Mar 2017 @ 8:03pm

The Wood team have had a phenomenal few days at Robinwood!

We arrived at Dobroyd Castle, settled ourselves into our dormitories and tucked into our first (but definitely not our last) hearty meal of our stay! That afternoon we donned our harnesses and helmets ready to throw ourselves into the exhilarating Giant Swing, Trapeze, Knight's Quest and Rocket Olympics. After our evening meal and team challenge we were all ready for bed.

On Thursday we woke to a full day of Robinwood fun!  We became Robin Hood and Maid Marian as we shot arrows through the air at lightning speed in Archery; learnt to work and balance as a team in the Crate Challenge and conquered the three C's (Climbing, Canoeing and Caving) all before dinner time! As our penultimate day came to a close we faced our most challenging task yet, we completed an assault course completely blind folded. Although we faced some pesky squirrels along the way we pulled together and triumphed in the end!

As we woke for our final day we could barely believe we had almost reached the end of our adventure. We were left no time to be disheartened as we were quickly led once again to the climbing room. As we had scaled the wall like Spider Monkeys the day before, our group leader Rienk, decided to push us to the max - this time we were climbing blindfolded! We finished our unforgettable experience in true Robinwood style by zip wiring through the Yorkshire countryside posing as our favourite superheroes!

'We didn't realise we were making memories, we just knew we were having fun!'

This week Miss Coffey's Class were very excited to be scientists to celebrate Science Week.  There were so many activities to choose from and it was wonderful to see the children so excited to investigate!

We had lots of different experiments to chose from including; exploring night and day in a dark den, looking at the different seasons through the natural world and constructing our own parachutes.

We have really enjoyed Science Week and cannot wait for more experiments!

What was your favourite activity for our science morning?

Science Week!

Date: 1st Apr 2017 @ 9:24am

During Science Week we took part in lots of activities with the theme of 'Change'. We investigated what salt does to ice, what vinegar does to an egg shell and what water does to skittles. We were even lucky enough to have a visit from Dr Nick, a scientist, who helped us with our investigations.

Science Week

Date: 29th Mar 2017 @ 11:58pm

Science Week was full of lots of practical activities and experiments. The children began the week by making scientific predictions about change. We looked at what happens to skittles once they are put into water. We all watched as the colours started to create a wonderful pattern.

Following on from this we had a visit from Dr Nick who talked to us about change and how different materials can change. We all had an ice cube to hold and we discussed what happens to the ice once it melts. Some of us pretended to be particles and helped Dr Nick to show this change from a solid to a liquid.

We were then given an ice cube, a piece of string, some salt and some water. We wanted to see if we could melt the ice with the salt, hold the string and then pour water over to refreeze the ice. Most of us managed it first time around, lots of us thought it was magic!

World Book Day

Date: 1st Apr 2017 @ 9:14am

On World Book Day we visited Mr Sands' year 5 class. The children read the books they had written for us and talked to us about their costumes and their favourite books. We were very impressed by all of their hard work and by the expression that they read with. We are working on reading with expression too!
