This guidance is a summary of the most important information you and your children will need to know to support you and your child at St Vincent’s. We do hope this information is useful.

Term Dates

Follow the link to find this year’s term dates.

Timing of the School Day

Reception – Year 2

Doors open: 08:45                School ends: 15:30

Year 3 - Year 6

It is very important that children arrive to school on time.  At the end of the school day, children should be collected from the classroom door by an adult. Please let the school know if your child will be late or absent, or if a different person will be collecting them. Holidays during term time are not allowed.

Sunshine Club Before and After School Care

The Sunshine Club provides breakfast and after school care for children in Reception to Year 6.  Breakfast club opens at 7.40am and the children are taken to their class at 8.45am. Children who attend after-school club are collected from their class at the end of the school day. The club closes at 6.00pm. There are also various after school clubs; please see the school office for more details.

Our Values

Our values are at the heart of St Vincent's. They support our school’s Catholic mission and underpin all we do. Values are taught through the curriculum, through our behaviour policy, ‘Stay on Green’ and in assemblies.

Pastoral Care Team

Your child’s wellbeing is incredibly important to us. We have a pastoral care team in school led by Mrs J. Gee and Mrs E. Sutton who provide support and guidance, not only for the children but also parents. If you would like some support from the Pastoral Care Team, please speak to your class teacher or Mrs Gee/ Mrs E Sutton. For more information, please use the QR code.

Curriculum

St Vincent’s delivers a broad and balanced curriculum which helps every child make excellent progress and develop a long love of learning. We have developed our curriculum to meet the needs of all children. As your child progresses through the school, they will build up their knowledge and skilfully apply their knowledge as skills. For specific information about what your child will be learning in each year group, please follow the QR code to access your year group information.

Additional support

Children with learning or behavioural needs will be referred to the school’s Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Coordinators, Mrs Sutton and Mrs Farrell.

Homework

Your child/children will be given homework regularly. Please support this important work and make sure it is returned on time and completed to a high standard.

School meals

All children from Reception to Year 2 receive a free school meal. Years 3 to 6 are able to have school lunches provided by our school catering team at a cost of £2.50 a day (£12.50 a week). There is always a vegetarian option. Special dietary requirements can be catered for. If your child would prefer to bring in a packed lunch, please ensure it is in a lunch box and does not contain nuts. Your child may be eligible for free school meals. Please see the office for more information.

Snacks and Water Bottles

Your child can bring in a water bottle so they stay hydrated throughout the day. Please make sure that it only has water in it- fizzy drinks and juice are not allowed. Children may bring a snack, preferably fruit, in for break time. We are a healthy eating school so please do not send in chocolate or sweets. Please avoid sending in nut products as some children suffer from allergies.

Medical Information

Please share any important medical information about your child with his/her class teacher.

Emergencies

Please inform the school of any changes in contact details, in case there is an emergency.

If English isn’t your main language, we can recommend this course to help you improve your English if you wish to. These courses are called English for Speakers of other Languages (ESOL). If you wish to improve your English, it could make it easier for you to talk to teachers, understand the curriculum and homework. The Hub in Altrincham runs ESOL courses but there are other locations in Trafford. Follow the QR code to register your interest.
