Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE)
Intent
The intent of our PSHE curriculum is to
- At St Vincent's Catholic Primary School, we want our children to be confident, independent, resilient, healthy and tolerant with the capacity to make informed and responsible choices.
- Help children to identify, recognise and maintain healthy relationships.
- Our PSHE curriculum promotes the welfare, safety and positive mental health of our children.
- PSHE is at the core of our school ethos underpinning our school values and our wider work on personal development.
How PSHE links with our school values:
Be Kind - We develop our empathy skills, developing the language to name and understand our emotions.
Be Respectful - We learn about the world around us and celebrate differences.
Be Passionate about Learning - We challenge ourselves to learn more about ourselves and the world around us to become the best that we can be.
Make a Difference - We are equipped for happier and healthy lives, ready to make a difference as global citizens.
At St Vincent’s we aspire to make the learning ambitious for all learners. Our school curriculum includes the knowledge, skills and life experiences children need to thrive. Our learning is carefully planned and sequenced using the National Curriculum that can be found below:
Knowledge and skills are built on from previous years and there is clear progression in each subject. You can see an overview of progression below:
Each curriculum area is taught across the year and evidenced on a long term plan, divided into half termly blocks. You can see the long term plan below:
British Values within our PSHE session are of the utmost importance across all year groups. You can see each PSHE session and its correlating British Value below.
