A Royal Reply!
Thomas Caunce, Year 6, wrote a letter to the Queen during the summer holidays, to share his thoughts about the Royal Navy, informing her that in his opinion The Royal Navy was too small and that they ought to have more ships patrolling our seas, or a large battle ship. Here's what Thomas had to say on the matter:
"I decided to write a letter to The Queen because the Royal Navy is very small and it needs a battle ship, as it only has cruisers and destroyers. The Queen replied thanking me for my wonderful letter, but informed me that these are not matters that she could deal with. She said she would pass my letter on to the Prime Minister. I then received a letter from The Prime Minister saying that maybe the Ministry of Defence might be interested in these matters. He forwarded my letter to them and they responded saying that they have sent the letter onto the Ships and Badges Committee (they come up with the names of ships for the Royal Navy). They might use my ideas of calling a ship HMS Dartmouth in the future!
I am very proud of what I achieved over the summer holidays and my family are too!"
And of course everyone at St. Vincent's is proud of Thomas' achievement, going to show that everyone's opinions and voices really do count even to the most prestigious members of our country.
Well done Thomas!!
