Girls' Football League
Tonight was the second round of the Trafford Girls' Football League and St. Vincent's had two teams determined to add to their earlier round successes.
St. Vincent's A began the night against St. Hugh's. Determined and tireless, St. Vincent's showed intent throughout and quickly led 3-0 within the first three minutes, with Elkie and Lottie especially proving to be a handful for the St. Hugh's defence. By half time, the girls were 6 up and passing the ball around with confidence. The game ended 8-0 with outstanding performances throughout the team.
Next up for the A team was the first big test of the season, against a strong Heyes Lane A team. The game began and it soon became clear that Heyes Lane would put us through a stern test. Rebecca and Mollie were called upon many times to keep the defence tight and Nathalie produced a fantastic save to keep St. Vincent's solid at the back. Imogen and Evie were strong in midfield, working tirelessly to keep the momentum with our attack. Izzy produced a centre midfield masterclass as she worked the ball through the Heyes Lane midfield. In the end, two excellent finishes from Lottie and Elkie swung the game in St. Vincent's favour and the girls maintain their 100% winning streak. A special mention must go out to Elkie who scored 4 very important goals tonight that swung both games in our favour. Well done Elkie!
St. Vincent's B also won their first game of the season 2-0 against Stamford Park, with two outstanding strikes from Josephine who moved up the pitch from defence into attack this week. Mr Nicholls was very proud to see the girls play so well together!
Well done St. Vincent's Girls and keep up the wonderful work!
