Music in the Air
In Year 4 we have been investigating "Sounds" during Science lessons.
We were asked, "How can we use air to make music?".
So, we used art straws to make pan pipes. This required lots of concentration and co-operation!
Our investigation helped us to discover that the longer the pan pipe, the more air that was vibrating inside. Therefore, the longer the pan pipe, the lower the note that was produced.
How do you think a small hole in the pan pipe might change the pitch? What would be your prediction?
