The Christmas Experience at Tatton Park
For our 'Seasons and Celebrations' topic in our Knowledge and Understanding the World sessions, we went to Tatton Park to continue our Christmas celebrations. We were so lucky and got to meet Father Christmas! He told us the story of Jack Frost, sang songs with us, gave us a Christmas present and even told us that we are all on the 'good list'. Phew! We heard the story of 'The Gingerbread Man' around a fireplace that was all dressed in traditional Christmas decorations. As we walked around the farm, we came across a beautiful Nativity scene. Here, we sang 'Little Donkey' from our Christmas Nativity Performance for the real ife donkey that was resting there. As an additinonal treat, we came across Father Christmas' sleigh! We got to sit in it and even had the chance to ring the magical bell! After this, we went into the Mansion. Every room was decorated to match a well known fairytale. We were very clever and knew which fairytale all of the rooms were dressed up as. In one of the rooms we listened to the story of 'Cinderella' and saw her carriage, it was amazing! In the room, there was also Cinderella's glass slipper and we compared it to our own feet. After learning about size and order in our Maths session at school, we knew that the shoe was going to be too big for any of us children! What a busy, yet magical day we had at Tatton Park. One we won't forget!
