United Nations in Year 6
The Year 6 children really enjoyed learning about Australia. We learnt about the geography of the country and the climate, as well as the aboriginal people. Did you know that Australia has many species of animals found nowhere else in the world? Using what we read and our research, we made fascinating fact booklets about animals such as the platypus and the deadly taipan snake!
After the school bunting parade we prepared some Australian food while listening to didgeridoo music. Fairy bread is a party treat for children - although it was very sweet most of us really enjoyed it. We also sampled Vegemite spread but that wasn't so popular!
Have you tried Vegemite? What do you know about Australia?
